| The scan results weren't so colourful afterall, though it did take 3.5 hrs to complete a full scan. ._.
In the end, just one trojan and a big bunch of cookies. Though the trojan proved to be a pain. -_- No matter how many times I removed it, it just kept coming back to the registry. In the end I gave up and did a system restore. It seems to have worked, though for some reason, I had no restore points before October.... I'm also hoping that there aren't other things on my laptop that Spyware Doctor hasn't picked up. But nothing noticably bad has occurred, to my knowledge, so it should be ok.... I think.
I wouldn't really be surprised if there were other things on this laptop that I didn't know about. My other thumb drive seemed to have been infected with a plethora of things, but went unoticed until Supanova, when one of the committee's laptop antivirus starting blocking things left, right and centre when it got plugged in. How malicious those things are are another matter, but I've since put it aside until I can be bothered to take a proper look at it.
All this anti virus stuff is such a pain to work through. :\ | comments: Leave a comment |
| Screw you outdated SOPHOS scanner at UWA! I thought my thumb drive didn't come away with the worm that's been circulating around at uni, but it has! The bad thing is that my laptop didn't pick up anything, but the home computer did, and we have the same anti virus system. ._. I didn't pay enough attention and realised that somehow, the 'Intelliguard' was turned off and it might have been that way for a long time.... I look forward to the colourful scan results I'll be getting about 20 mins from now...
So, I apologise if you receive anything weird from me. Please ignore it.
I totally don't need to deal with this right now. D:
Why can't I get the worm off my thumbdrive? D: The anti virus doesn't pick it up until it tries to launch itself, then it only quarantines the execution, and the folder that it's in only shows up in the anti virus browser!!
Heck with it. As long as it doesn't execute it should be. I'll deal with it after exams. | comments: 6 comments or Leave a comment |

| Ok this has been a while. I went on a 5 week holiday... to a country that banned Facebook. Yes I know, deluded masochism? Yeah definitely. It's good to be home now. Not much to report, I'm financially devastated by this trip. But I am materially greater than I was before. Material goods etc.
It was a good trip, my time in in the PRC and HK was detrimental to my financial wellbeing :) but damn it's good. Peking duck is fantabulous. Travelled around the north provinces, visited a few cities I'd never been to before. Semi-climbed some mountains and 'trekked' through some national reserves. Released live fish into the Yalu River and eyewitnessed some illegal trafficking of people and goods. It's all in the name of adventure and fun. It was a good run. There might be a few decisions which I could've made or not made but then again it's all in the past now.
I have several thousand extra, new reasons to go back to work. I'm sure my credit card appreciates my appreciation of it. | comments: Leave a comment |
| It's a well-kept secret of mine that I record LP videos every once in a while and they are slowly killing my laptop dead. Stuff that ran perfectly when I started is now starting to come up looking like shit when I'm done recording and it's driving me nuts. I don't want to make bad videos! (insert joke here)
Anyway, the main problem with this laptop is it works fine for the first few videos, but it gets worse and worse the longer I record and the underside keeps getting hotter, till it is basically burning to the touch. I wish that was exaggeration but it is not! My fingers have stung for a while after touching it sometimes.
So is this something that means my laptop is fucked? Do I need to get a new one or should I just reinstall my OS and that will magically fix it somehow. I figure Vista is at least partially to blame here, since it is a hungry fucking whore, but it's the OS I learnt how to get my setup working on, so I am kind of loathe to get rid of it. Upgrading to Windows 7 would be fine, since I understand that's the same as Vista but less retarded.
If I have to junk this thing, I want to get a computer that will give me smoother videos while I'm recording. A lot of my videos are really chuggy and unwatchable to the point where I only upload some of them (ho ho) so that needs to be addressed, especially now that I'm being asked to LP PS2 games. This is my laptop, although mine only has a 120 GB hard-drive. You can probably tell it is not very good. If I get a new laptop, it has to be able to not die when I try to record uncompressed video from the ps3, not chug when I run Spelunky and maybe even be able to do all this without me having to close my browser. I don't care if it can run TF2 or not, that is the last of my concerns right now.
I am trying to keep the price under $2000 AUD.
Please help or I may be prematurely retired from LPing. :( | comments: 4 comments or Leave a comment |
| | The kitties are BIG now. Bailey has started eating more and has developed a belly. He has now been called Bailey Belly. Ziggy seem to have plateaued in size and weight, in fact, I think he has slimed down a bit! This is due to the FOIL BALL game we play with him. Ziggy likes to chase a ball made of foil. Its a simple enough game, you throw the ball across the room and Ziggy chases after it. The major difference between a cat and dog - cats don't fetch. He runs at top speed for the ball and then stops, bats it a bit and sits there, waiting for you to walk over and throw the ball back across the room. And so it continues........I'm lazy and sometimes I stop playing with him much to his protest!! | comments: Leave a comment |

| Last day of work before heading off to Singapore this evening. Actually, last day of work for a while since it's also the end of my contract. I do look forward to the break though and hope to come back refreshed and re-vigored. I have to admit to being much more excited about my trip than anything else since it has been a while since I travelled overseas.
My last day of work coincides with Melbourne Cup so it means that the day is going to be pretty disrupted as it is. There will be lunch and crazy hats. I bought a nice lemon tart as my contribution to the event. And then listening to the race on the /radio/. Very retro but apparently we do not have a tv antennae connection on our floor. -_-
Off to scavenge for breakfast... | comments: 1 comment or Leave a comment |

| How many of you can place this pumpkin carving:

( Answer is here. 8D )
I chanced upon it through Thinkgeek's e-mail notification for their Halloween related things. Other good pumpkin carvings are here.
If pumpkins weren't so pricey and Halloween didn't always coincide with exam period, I'd love to have a go at pumpkin carving. It looks so fun. XD

| Assignment done! Exam study....... should have started earlier. D:
Anyway, SBS is showing the movie 'The Science of Sleep' at 10pm tonight, and I recommend it to people who haven't watched it before! The dream sequences in this show are fantastic and hilarious. XD I laughed a lot when I watched it in the cinema. | comments: 1 comment or Leave a comment |
| Have to wait another week! Well, not quite another week. Just 5 days and to be honest I have plenty to keep me busy. Stupid Drama. Ended on another cliffhanger. *rolls* If you're wondering about what has gotten me so excited. Its this http://www.dramabeans.com/2009/10/youre-beautiful-episode-1/ A new Kdrama called You're Beautiful and 8 episodes in, I'm still really liking it. I have a girl crush on Park Shin-Hye who is so adorable that I want to ruffle her hair too and out of the two main guys. I reallly really don't know who to root for as the one to get the girl. I like them both! And can I say...wow, Jang Geun Suk. Wow.
Anyway, time to clean to distract myself and patiently wait for my anata to come home. | comments: 2 comments or Leave a comment |
